The Beginning of a Journey

ยท

I’ve been a designer, a marketer, a real estate agent, a teacher and a programmer. I’ve done a lot of things just to see what else is out there where I could confidently say I belong. Maybe because I’m too young. With hubris and ignorance, I try to get into fields that I have no experience, thinking that I can compete and succeed. Or maybe I’m just trying to find a place I can call home.

But a home is not a place.

When my first son was born I immediately realized that all I am doing is not for me. But for them — my family. And anything I put into working hard does not really benefit them but the owners of the corporation and the government.

The government gets 1/3 of my salary the corporation gets 1/3 of my time and 100% rewards of that effort.

This is not a good deal. I work hard, salary stays the same. I work harder and the government takes more of my salary. My family is still in the same situation but government and corporation gets the upside. This is modern day slavery.

Not everyone feels the way I do. And of course there are a lot of people who love their job. But its just how I feel. I don’t think I’ll ever love my job, unless all the rewards of my effort gets rewarded accordingly.

Things have to change.

When I realized that, I thought to myself:

I guess it’s better to try and fail than do nothing. If I’m going to spend time and work hard, I want 100% of the result of that effort to be received by my family. I can fail sure. I can go back to work, save and try again. I only need one successful attempt and I’m be set for life.

When my company asked us to finish a job for 1 month that took 6 months for a normal team to accomplish. You know that we are burned out. You know that we expect a reward.

But rewards don’t come easily. There are profit targets to be met. We employees should be content with a pat on the back, a pizza, or a treat to the bar with an ice cold beer.

The Plan

Here’s my plan:

  1. Create a corporation – Dida Technologies
  2. Offer services I’m good at – IT services, software development and IT consulting
  3. Focus on creating great products and services

That’s the gist of it. My strength is software development. And that is what I will use to succeed.

That’s it for now. On my next post, I will update you on how the registration of the corporation is going.
